Mr. Elmer Opie Bennett, 82, of Franklin, WV passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home. He was born February 10, 1931 at Hunting Ground, WV and was the son of the late Clem E. Bennett and Nora Lambert Bennett. Elmer had worked at Hevener Motor Equipment, Ruddle Saw & Equipment, the WV Division of Highways and retired from Walker Manufacturing after 20 years of service. He was a well-known mechanic who could fix most anything, including bulldozers and farm equipment. He was Pentecostal by faith. On February 17, 1962, he married Grethel Sponaugle Bennett, who survives. Also surviving are - One daughter - Missy Bennett of Franklin, WV One grandson - Dylan Bennett of Franklin, WV Three sisters - Cathaline Dean of Manassas, VA Luna Lee Hagy of Franklin, WV Lillian Thompson of Bartow, WV And a number of nieces and nephews Preceding him in death were a sister, Hazel C. Taylor and a brother, Andrew Dice Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel, 80 South Main Street, Franklin, WV with Chaplain Ken Hartman officiating. Burial will at North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, WV. Olin Landis, Ryan Sturgill, Tony Suthart, Brian Wilfong, Mark VanMeter, Eric Mullenax, Dylan Hedrick and Harry Kee will serve as his pallbearers.
