Edith Elizabeth (Utterback) Bowers, 81, of Fairfax, VA, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Sunrise at George Mason in Fairfax. She was born December 29, 1932 in Delroy, OH and was the daughter of the late Harold Wayne Utterback and Virgie Nola Harper Utterback. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1952 and attended business school in Cumberland, MD, which led her to work as a typist for the FBI. In 1957, she married Raymond J. Bowers of Franklin WV at the Dover Air Force Base Chapel. As a military spouse, Edith lived around the country and around the world: Panama City FL, Tokyo Japan, Bowling Green OH, Franklin WV, Newport News VA, New Llano LA, Brunssum Netherlands, and Haymarket, VA where Raymond retired from the military in 1978. No matter where the military and life took her, Edith took pleasure in gardening, home decor, community organizations and her church. She was very active in the life of her three daughters. Edith is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Gray, and her husband. Surviving are - Three daughters and their spouses - Kelly Bowers and Jeff Teitel of Washington, D.C. Lisa and Jeff Breeding of Manassas, VA Melanie and Jerry Lewis of Haymarket, VA Three grandchildren - Christopher Lewis Stephanie Lewis Mitchell Breeding Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Franklin with Pastor Larry Cantu officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, West Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2014 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. The family suggests that those wishing to make a donation in her memory, direct their donations to the American Diabetes Association or Faith Lutheran Church in Franklin, WV.
