Dorothy Jewel McNeill Johnson, 97, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at her daughter's home in Mobile, Alabama.

Dorothy lived a long full life and died of natural causes.

Born on March 5, 1927 in Edray, she was the daughter of the late George Arnot McNeill and Ida Virginia Susan McNeill.

Dorothy was a homemaker, a gardener, babysitter and worked as a kitchen cook periodically during her her adult life.  She was an active member of the Dunmore United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir, and rarely missed services.  She held many positions in the Baptist and Methodist churches during her lifetime.

As an Air Force wife, she lived in Washington, DC, Long Island, NY, Illinois, Augusta, Georgia, Crestview, Florida, and Charleston and Beaufort, South Carolina, before retiring in Dunmore.

She was active most of her life, and loved working outdoors and gardening. She enjoyed traveling and attending events like Pioneer Days, Huntersville Days, and the West Virginia State Fair.  She enjoyed flying and even visited Hawaii twice.  She also loved road trips.  Someone else would drive and she would ride shotgun with a road map on her lap.  She loved visiting family, and was a good friend to many, staying in touch over many years and traveling to see them. She was a good neighbor, a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved by all. She was an awesome cook and her memorable meals will be cherished.

And six great-great grandchildren

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Saturday, October 26 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
