Dorothy C. Lane, 87, of Winston-Salem, NC, and formerly of Buckeye, WV, passed away after a brief illness and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, March 5, 2026, with her son, Rockie, and daughter, Rhonda, by her side at Kate B. Reynolds Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem.

She was born August 1, 1938, in Pocahontas County and was the daughter of the late Frank Cook and Ethel Dever.  Dorothy grew up in Buckeye and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1956.  She worked as a Microfilm Specialist at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, OH, before returning to Buckeye, WV, and working as Activities Director at the Pocahontas County Continuous Care Center in Marlinton and later retiring to be a homemaker.

She was a member of the Marlinton Church of God, Edray CEOs, AARP #1853, PMH Auxiliary and Pocahontas Center Auxiliary.

And many nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Lane, a daughter, Brenda Galford, her siblings, Warren G. Dever, Irene S. Vaughn, Ivan "Harper" Dever, Wanda M. Buckland, Curtis "Buck" Dever, and a half-brother, Randolph Perkins.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 10 at the Marlinton Church of God where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Fred Goldizen officiating.

Interment will be at Ruckman Cemetery.
