Mr. Donald "Pop" Kerns, 90, of Paw Paw, West Virginia passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, West Virginia.

He was born May 12, 1932 at Paw Paw and was the son of the late Joseph and Thelma (Robertson) Kerns.

Pop worked at PPG Industries in Cumberland, MD, and then retired from Schmidt Baking Company.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.

On December 15, 1951, he married Darla J. Gordon Kerns, who preceded him in death on September 4, 2007.  An infant son, Joseph Kerns, and a grandson, Michael Scott Kerns (July 6, 1967 - Jan. 4, 2018), also predeceased him.

Eldridge Kerns of Paw Paw

One granddaughter –

Melissa and her husband, Nicolas Villafuerte

Dustin, Cristiana, Daniel

Two great-great-grandchildren -

Mariah and Gabriella

Four step-great-grandchildren –

Caden, Sariah, Neovani and Romeo

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday, February 18 at Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 19 with Eldridge Kerns officiating.

Interment will be at Camp Hill Cemetery in Paw Paw.

Bruce Griffin, Nicolas Villafuerte, Caden Griffin, Bill Moser and David Deaver will serve as his pallbearers.

A reception at the Paw Paw Senior Center, 783 Winchester Street, will follow the funeral service and interment, and all are welcome to join the family there for the reception and a time of fellowship.  The center will be open and staff will be onsite to receive food donation drop-off beginning at 11:00 AM Sunday.
