Mr. Dolan Wade Irvine, 65, of Marlinton, WV departed this life on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his home. He was born September 24, 1947 and was the son of the late Verlin Adam Irvine and Elsie Grace Shinaberry. He was a 1966 graduate of Marlinton High School and received a B.S. degree in agriculture from West Virginia University in 1970. Dolan taught vocational agriculture at Pocahontas County High School for 10 years before being elected as Assessor of Pocahontas County. During his 32 years as Assessor, he served as President of the WV Assessor's Association and received the State Tax Department award for Outstanding WV Assessor, as well as being awarded Assessor of the Year by his fellow WV County Assessors. He was also appointed by the Governor to serve on the WV Property Valuation Committee. After retiring from the Assessor's Office, he was elected to the Pocahontas County Commission, where he served as President. He was also a certified real estate appraiser, life-long farmer, and owner of Huntersville Grocery, which he operated for 16 years. Dolan served on the Board of Directors for the Pocahontas Farm Bureau, Pocahontas Producers, Southern States Co-op, Pendleton Community Bank and the Public Defender's Board. He was also a member of the Pocahontas Promenaders Western Square Dance Club and Huntersville Masonic Lodge #65. Surviving are - His Wife - Alice Rebecca Kelly Irvine Son - Kevin Lee Irvine and wife Pamela of Poca, WV Son - Kenneth Eugene Irvine of Marlinton, WV Five Grandchildren - Clayton Cole Irvine, Adam Wesley Irvine, Ryan Patrick Irvine, Kelly Renee Irvine and Jamie Lee Irvine Dolan was preceded in death by his brother, Riger Howe Irvine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home, 18942 Seneca Trail, Marlinton, WV 24954 with Pastors Jason & Jess Felici officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be at the White Cemetery at Minnehaha Springs, WV. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton.
