Deyerle Conrad Rexrode went to his heavenly home on November 2, 2024 just 12 days shy of his 94th birthday.  He lived in Sugar Grove, West Virginia his whole life, except for lately, when he lived at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.  He was born to Jared and Jane Rexrode on November 14, 1930. He was the brother of Norma Lee Rexrode Sponaugle and was preceded in death by her and a beloved nephew, Kerry Sponaugle.

Deyerle married Elaine (Hoover) Rexrode June 15, 1957.  They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past summer.  Deyerle had a house full of girls, 4 of them to be exact.  He shared 1 bathroom with 5 females for the longest time.   Tamara (Tammy) is their first born.  She went on to marry Greg Puffenberger, a hometown boy.  They live in Hagerstown, MD.  Teresa is the 2nd born.  She also married a hometown boy, Bradley Evick.  Teresa and Brad live in Harrisonburg, VA.  Then comes Trina who stayed with tradition with hometown boys marrying Trevor Whetzel.  They live in Harrisonburg, VA.  Tiffany is Deyerle's youngest, who refers to herself to this day as his favorite.  Tiffany went out into the world and found a guy from PA and married Derek Getic.  They live in Greencastle, PA.

Deyerle made memories with his and Elaine's 9 grandchildren, Ben Evick (Cassie), Heidi McAbee (Ben), Tyler Puffenberger (Lauren), Tanner Whetzel (Jady), Ashlyn Puffenberger, Landon Getic, Reid Getic, Taylor Whetzel, and Hayleigh Lowe.  He had a slew of great-grandchildren -  Gage Roach, Colt and West Evick, Mason Evick, Kinley, Hudson, and twins – Kaydee and Kollyns McAbee, Kayden, Ridge, and Beckett Puffenberger, and the newest addition – Helena Whetzel who lives in Brazil with her parents.

Deyerle loved gospel and bluegrass music.  He had a beautiful singing voice.  He loved FORD cars, trucks, and tractors.  He loved making hay in the summertime, sitting by the woodstove in the winter using wood he cut and split, and growing a lush garden every summer and harvesting vegetables from it.  He loved making homemade ice cream and eating Elaine's cooking.   He was a hard worker all his life and the family went to church every Sunday.    His family is grateful for his impact on their lives.

His family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 AM Thursday, November 7 at Calvary Lutheran Church, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastors Paul Schafer, Angela Lambert and Trevor Whetzel officating.

Deyerle's body will be laid to eternal rest in his beloved Sugar Grove in the cemetery that you can see from his home.
