David Lee "Davy" McLaughlin, 68, of Marlinton, West Virginia passed away at his home on Jericho Road on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Born August 2, 1956 in Marlinton, he was the son of the late Jimmy Lee McLaughlin and Anna Mayona Astin McLaughlin.

Davy graduated from Pocahontas County High School in 1974.  After high school, he moved to Florida and began work at the Stuart Yacht & Country Club.  As he grew, he gained experience in the trades, while working various construction projects, as a laborer, welder and carpenter, from PA, NC, SC, TN and other construction jobs in between.

When his father passed, he took over M&M Pumping and operated it until a heart attack changed his work schedule.

Having long been a lover of "old stuff", Davy devoted himself to being a full-time buyer, seller, and trader of all things old and antique.

Over the years, Davy served the community as Vice-Chair and Chairman of the Pioneer Days Committee.  Carrying on in his dad's footsteps, Davy was Chairman of the Antique Car Show.  These were the things he enjoyed most – bringing a smile to other people's faces.  He always had a joke or a story to tell and never met a stranger.  He was a member of the Campbelltown Church.

He is survived by –

One son – Derek McLaughlin of Marlinton

One daughter – Deanna Gladwell of Marlinton

One sister – Nicki Felton (and husband, Sam)

Two granddaughters – Kyra McLaughlin of Buckeye and Shaylen Gladwell of Marlinton

One grandson -  Haiden Gladwell of Hillsboro

One great-granddaughter – Danielle Roy of Marlinton

A niece, numerous nephews and cousins, and a multitude of friends who will share many fond memories.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Jane Wilfong.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Saturday, March 15 at Campbelltown Church, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday with Pastor Sam Felton officiating.

Interment will be at Brown's Mountain Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Days Committee.
