Mr. Daniel Wesley Swecker, 26, of Franklin, WV, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, due to complications from cystic fibrosis. He was born August 10, 1986 at Harrisonburg, Virginia and was the son of Gary W. Swecker and Carol Waggoner Swecker of Franklin. Daniel was a 2004 graduate of Pendleton County High School, where he was a drummer in the Marching Band and served as Vice-President of the FFA Chapter. He received his American Farmer Degree in 2006 and was a member of the Moonshiners 4-H Club. A 2009 graduate of National Business College, he received a double major with Honors in Computer Applications Technology and Business Administration Accounting. Daniel was employed by Don B. Swisher Trucking as a part-time mail employee and attended Union Chapel Church in Blue Grass, Virginia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved farming. His dream was to win the lottery and have his own grain farm. He is survived by - One brother - Jon W. Swecker of Franklin, WV And his childhood babysitter, Virginia "Nanny" Puffenbarger and her husband, Dale, of Blue Grass, Virginia whom he fondly considered his third set of grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, WV with Pastors Jason and Jess Felici and Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin from 1:30 PM Sunday until the time of service at 2:30 PM. At Daniel's request, the casket will be closed. Burial will be at the Blue Grass Cemetery in Blue Grass, Virginia. Michael Hupman, Robbie Vandevander, Richard Swecker, David Swecker, Dan McCoy and Matt Nesselrodt will serve as his pallbearers. At Daniel's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your local fire dept. or rescue squad or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
