Chauncey Lee Whitacre, 94, of Paw Paw, WV died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home. He was born February 12, 1920 in Coldstream, West Virginia and was the son of the late Arch "Bush" Whitacre and Alice Whitacre. Mr. Whitacre worked in sawmills and pulpwood for many years and retired from Filter Media Corp. in Winchester, VA. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are - His wife of 68 years, Ila Roselea Kidwell Whitacre Four daughters - Eileen Boone of Hedgesville, WV Gloria Moreland (& her companion, James Bell) of Paw Paw, WV Constance Baber (& her husband, Kenneth) of Paw Paw, WV Beverly Kerns of Paw Paw, WV One son - Neil P. Whitacre (& his wife, Linda) of Paw Paw, WV Two brothers - Tony Whitacre of Paw Paw, WV Elwood Whitacre of Clearspring, MD Twelve grandchildren Twenty-seven great-grandchildren And Two great-great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by six brothers - Clarence, Alvin, Lynn, Shannon, Lloyd and Garland Whitacre and three sisters - Laura, Della and Ivy. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Paw Paw. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 10 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church with Pastor Earl Travis officiating. Interment will be at Woodrow Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by members of the Cumberland American Legion Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
