Charles Lee Whetzel, 78, of Franklin, WV went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was born May 20, 1944 at Brushy Run, West Virginia and was the son of the late Charles Roy Whetzel and Ina Gladys Kimble Whetzel.

He had done construction work and worked in the body shop at Kline Motor Sales.  Charles Lee was a past member of the Franklin Vol. Fire Dept., and was a a member of the Brushy Run Church of God.

On December 30, 1963, he married Margaret Joan Raines Whetzel, who survives.

Gary Whetzel (Rose) of Bridgewater, VA

Six grandchildren -

Logan Willis (Tabitha), Caleb Willis, Lindsey Stewart (Sean), Kyle Kretzschmar (Shelby), Tanner Whetzel (Jada) and T aylor Whetzel

Three great-grandchildren -

Tripp, Mephis and Aria

Four step-great-grandchildren

And four step-great-great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by three granddaughters

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Phillip Marcum and Rev. Trevor Whetzel officiating.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.
