Charles "Googie" Mcelwee Richardson's Obituary
Charles McElwee Richardson, 89, of Marlinton, WV passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye, WV.
Known as "Googie" to family and friends, he was born October 2, 1927 in Marlinton and was the son of the late Charles Richardson and Elizabeth McElwee Richardson.
Googie attended school in Marlinton, and went on to further his education at Fork Union Military Academy. He served his country in the Pacific during WWII and re-enlisted in the Army, serving overseas in Germany. After returning to the United States, he again re-enlisted and was stationed at Fort Knox before his honorable discharge.
He returned home to operate the Western Auto in Richwood, WV, and after several years there, began assisting his father in operating the family business, C. J. Richardson Hardware and Furniture. Googie was a lifelong member of the Marlinton Lions Club and the Marlinton United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Elizabeth Sue Harper Richardson and his son, Terry Lynn Richardson.

And two great-grandchildren -
Richard Michael White and MacKenzie White
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Marlinton United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 28 at the Marlinton United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Merryman and Pastor Sam Felton officiating.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton with military graveside services conducted by members of the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to the Marlinton Lions Club, c/o Joe Lasky, 161 Crow Hill Lane, Marlinton, WV 24954 or the Marlinton United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 54, Marlinton, WV 24954.
