Mr. Charles Hartman, Jr., 91, of Franklin, WV passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

He was born June 15, 1926 at Zigler, WV and was the son of the late Charles "Charlie" E. Hartman, Sr. and Pearlie Etta (Moyers) Hartman.

Charles attended the one-room Goshen School and Franklin High School. He was one of the county's leading producers of chickens and turkeys, including range turkeys, working with both Wampler and Rocco.  He also raised some cattle, sheep and hogs.  He received the Rocco Farms award in 1983-84 for the number one Tom grower and in 1998, was named the outstanding broiler producer by the WV Poultry Association. His farm was known for the beauty of its mountain setting and for the pristine condition in which it was maintained. Charles was a steadfast Pendleton County Farm Bureau member, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

On June 15, 1963, he married Gladys Hill Hartman, who preceded him in death on September 2, 2017.  Three sisters, Catherine Smith, Dessie Witt and Retha Radovich; one brother, Edwin Hartman; three half-sisters, Mary Sponaugle, Vergie Bennett and Eva Simmons; and three half-brothers, William Lambert, Russell Lambert and Leslie Lambert also preceded him in death.  Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Jacob, Benjamin, Levi, Blaiklee, Briggs and Elle Kimble

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM Saturday, June 2 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Elder David Hartman officiating.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
