Charles Aldon Gordon, Jr., 73, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center due to complications associated with treatment for cancer. Charlie was born December 30, 1940 in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of late Charles A. Gordon, Sr. and Margaret Shanholtz Gordon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Joan Elizabeth Clary Gordon in July of 2003. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Darla Gordon Kerns and a nephew Joseph Michael Kerns. He leaves behind a sister, Helena Gordon Moser and a brother-in-law, Donald Kerns. He also leaves four children. Three daughters Margaret Elizabeth Gordon Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, Connie Jean Gordon Deaver and husband Rocky of Salisbury, North Carolina and Jennifer Gordon-Siegworth and husband Bob of Charlotte, North Carolina. One son Charles Aldon Gordon, III and wife Amanda of Jacksonville, Florida. Thirteen grandchildren - Kevin Miller, Jr. and wife Jada of Virginia Beach, Kristopher Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kyle Miller of Falling Waters, WV, Kayla Jo Miller of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Cameron Hammer of Falling Waters, WV, David Deaver and wife Kim of Concord, NC, Jessica Deaver Sanchez and husband Ricky of San Diego, California, Bobby Siegworth, IV, Nicholas Siegworth and Rachel Siegworth of Charlotte North Carolina, Charles Aldon Gordon, IV (Chase), Cody Gordon and Heather Gordon of Jacksonville, Florida. He leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, Shayla, Leah, Kevin, Alyssa, Garrett, Madison, Carleigh, Aubrey and Melanie and one scheduled to arrive in April of 2015. He also leaves two nieces Kathy Kerns Griffin and husband Bruce of Arcadia, Florida, Robin Gordon Bunting and husband Ray of Lewes, Delaware and one nephew William Gordon Moser of Paw Paw. Charlie shared a special relationship with Peg Sharp with whom he shared very special plans for the future. Charlie was a member of the Paw Paw High School graduating class of 1958 where he was voted Harvest King and was a member of the PPHS Alumni Association. Immediately following his high school graduation Charlie moved to Arlington County, Virginia where he was employed by the CIA. Upon his return to Paw Paw he married Joan Clary and went into business with his parents in Gordon's Grocery in Paw Paw. He was employed as an agent for People's Life Insurance in Cumberland, Maryland for many years. Charlie met the challenges in his life head on and championed his own recovery by serving as an Alcohol Crisis Counselor in affiliation with the Exodus House at SOME (So Others May Eat) in Capon Bridge, West Virginia. He spent the latter years of his life in his own business, Gordon and Gordon Enterprises, working in conjunction with Belford Firewood, providing firewood to private homes and businesses including Cracker Barrels in the Northern Virginia area. He served two terms as Mayor of Paw Paw from 2001 to 2005. Charlie's prognosis for recovery from cancer was excellent and he was in the middle of battling chemotherapy and radiation treatment when an undetected infection took over. He left this life too soon and his passing was very unexpected. He leaves behind a loving and grieving family of devoted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many special friends and relatives. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives at Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be grandsons Kevin Miller, Kris Miller, David Deaver, Kyle Miller, Bobby Siegworth IV, Nicholas Siegworth, Cody Gordon and Cameron Hammer. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Paw Paw Church of Christ with Evangelist Richard J. White officiating. Friends will be able to visit the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately at Camp Hill Cemetery. The Ladies Class from the Paw Paw Church of Christ will host a meal immediately following burial at the Paw Paw Senior Center.
