Carl W. Bowers, 84, of Franklin, WV passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 25, 1934 at Franklin and was the son of the late John Bowers and Julia Bennett Bowers.

He rode his bicycle to school and graduated from Franklin High School in 1952.  He was a farmer, a carpenter, and retired as a grader operator for the WV Dept. of Highways. Carl also worked with the WV Dept. of Agriculture Forest Service's Oak Wilt Control Program, and was a member of the Friends Run Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon.

On August 12, 1953, he married Catherine Hedrick Bowers, who survives.

Shirley Sisson of Franklin

Lucille McLaughlin (& her husband, Richard) of Franklin

Janet Roberson (& her husband,Randy) of Franklin

Two sisters –

Ruth Duty (& her husband,Junior) of Joppa, MD

Grace Kimble of Alexandria, VA

Six grandchildren –

Cathy Bennett, Cheryl Ann McClanahan, Charles Sisson, Bethany King, Jennifer Harper and Tracy Kimble

And seventeen great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and three sisters, Mildred Lantz, Retha Raines and Anna Simmons.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Kimble Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 12 with Brother Tom Hanks officiating.

Interment will be at the Ruddle Church Cemetery near Franklin.
