Betty Jean Smith, 81, of Upper Tract, WV passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

She was born August 20, 1943, in Harrisonburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Kennie Oliver Lough and Leona Catherine Greenawalt Lough.

She was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School, a homemaker, an outstanding baker, and a devoted member of Christ Central Community Church, where she served on the food committee and as a Sunday School teacher.

On May 12, 1964, she married Gail Eugene Smith, who survives.

Two sons –

Jerry Smith (Jennifer) of Upper Tract

Larry Smith (Julie) of Upper Tract

And two grandchildren –

Megan Anne Smith and Branson Tyler Smith

She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Borror.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, August 15 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16 with Pastor Sam Harper officiating.

Interment will be at Kline Cemetery.
