Betty Jo Mowery Mays, 79, of Upper Tract, WV died Friday, August 12, 2011 at her home. She was born May 23, 1932 at Smoke Hole, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Albert Nelson, Sr. and Lillie Florence Kimble Nelson. Betty had worked at Morton's Store, Hub Furniture, Brinks Armored Car, Domino's Pizza and The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, and Petersburg Sheetz. She was a member of the Petersburg Church of God. Preceding her in death were her husbands, Howard Mowery, James Bruce Mowery and James P. Mays. She was also preceded by two brothers, Roy Nelson and Fred Nelson and two sisters, Mary Ruth Kimble and Anna Lee Skaggs. Betty is survived by - Two daughters - Carol (& Larry) Wilson of Kents Store, VA Robin (& Tom) Jones of Frederick, MD Three sons - David (& Wanda) Mowery of Upper Tract, WV James Mowery of Upper Tract, WV Steven Mowery of Virginia Beach, VA One brother - Albert Nelson, Jr. of Hinesville, GA Eighteen grandchildren, one of whom is Belinda Miller and her husband, Larry who were Betty's special caregivers And twenty-five great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, WV. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract, WV. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 14 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
