Betty Lambert Mongold, 82, of Staunton and formerly of Franklin, West Virginia, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, VA.

She was born November 22, 1943, in Zigler, WV and was the daughter of the late William Oscar Lambert and Ethel Moyers Lambert.

Betty was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School.  She worked at Sancar in Harrisonburg, Hanover Shoe in Franklin and CCL Containers in Harrisonburg.  She attended the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren.

Betty lived her later years at Garber Manor where she made many friends.  She is grateful to UVA dialysis in Staunton who gave her five extra years, during which she was able to celebrate her 80th birthday and make multiple memories with her granddaughter, Sage. She also enjoyed spending time with Ray and Lisa Frankel.

She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word finds, and adult coloring books.  She will be remembered for loving to get her family together for meals and reunions.  Family and friends were all welcome at her table.

Betty was the last surviving sister of her family, having been preceded in death by three sisters, Velma "Dit" Lambert, Alma "June" Ord (& husband, Clarence "CJ") and Ethelene "Faye" Downey, and one brother, William "Otho"/"Bill" Lambert.

Jack Lambert (Frisky) of Franklin

One granddaughter –

Sage Fitzgerald

Two step-granddaughters –

Lauren Whitt (Matt)

Jamie Massey (W.J. Altizer)

Four step-great-grandchildren –

Paisley Whitt, Zaileigh Whitt, Skylar Massey and Colton Massey

And numerous nieces, nephews and extended family

All services will be private per Ms. Mongold's wishes.
