Avanell Bible Judy, 96, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Born May 21, 1924 at Buffalo Hills near Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Ada Lena Bible Wimer.

Avanell worked at Hanover Shoe Company and for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 35 years as a rural mail carrier. She was a faithful member of the Friends Run Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the choir and was active in the Ladies' Aid and Bible Study. Babysitting her grandchildren, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying a game of Bingo, Uno, Checkers or Old Maid were her favorite pastimes.

On April 12, 1941, she married Ira Woodrow Judy, who preceded her in death November 13, 1987. Two sons, Ronnie Judy and Jack Judy; two brothers, Russell "Wayne" Wimer and Stanley "Tom" Wimer; two grandsons, Kent Judy and Gregory Judy, and a sister-in-law, Rita Wimer, also predeceased her.

One daughter-in-law –
Deborah Judy Sowar of Franklin, WV

One sister-in-law –
Helen Wimer of Gambills, MD

Nine grandchildren –
Pam Johnson (& husband, Jeff), Kristen Thomas, Doug Judy, Todd Judy, Andy Judy, Tyler Simmons, Colin Simmons (& wife, Chelsey), Drake Judy (& wife, Sarah) and Sidny Judy

And eight great-grandchildren –
Kayla Johnson, Zach Johnson, Dane Thomas, Kayley Thomas, Noah Judy, Jacob Judy, Abbey Judy and Sophie Judy

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Kimble Funeral Home, 80 South Main Street in Franklin, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Dan Ludwick and David Morris officiating. Facial coverings and social distancing will be required.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin. Doug Judy, Todd Judy, Tyler Simmons, Colin Simmons, Drake Judy, Andy Judy, Zach Johnson and Dane Thomas will serve as her pallbearers.

Friends may also pay their respects and sign the register book on Friday, February 26 from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
