Ammon G. Butcher, Jr., 87, of Newton Falls, OH, and formerly of Brandywine, WV passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Ohio.

He was born May 31, 1929 in Weston, WV and was the son of the late Ammon Goff Butcher, Sr. and Alma Lough Butcher.

Mr. Butcher was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a military cook.  He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.  He loved cooking and was honored for volunteering as a cook for Special Olympics.

On November 15, 1980, he married Ruby Mae Butcher, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2014.

Sarah Raines of Warren, OH

Patricia Ables (& companion, Walter Kesterson) of Dayton, VA

Eighteen grandchildren

And thirty-one great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Daniel Butcher, Sr. and Lester Butcher.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday with Pastor Anna Efaw officiating.

A military service will be conducted by members of the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.

Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine.
